HERE'S THE FULL PRESS RELEASE FROM P1MP: Press Release For Immediate Release December 2006 AFRICAN DOPE'S GREATEST HIT…has landed! You’ve heard the rumours, you’ve seen the flyers, maybe even read the reviews, but 2 years after first being advertised, it's finally here - African Dope's Greatest Hit! South Africa’s favourite independent record label proudly unleashes it's lucky 13th release as the first output from the label in nearly 2 years and the very first (legal) DJ mix to disc by Krushed & Sorted, which makes it the DJ duo’s first release since the now cult classic album ‘Acid Me Do It’ kicked it all off all those years ago. Krushed & Sorted smoke their first as they raid the African Dope crop in a full-length, action-packed, hard-hitting, remixed, re-trixed and re-fixed DJ mix, crammed to the bass-bins with all their favourite doped-out dancefloor jams from the likes of Felix Laband, Kalahari Surfers, Krushed & Sorted, Constructus Corporation, Godessa, The Real Estate Agents, Watkin Tudor Jones, African Dope Soundsystem, Teba, Tykoon Suit, Sibot, Marcus Wormstorm, Mr. Mo, DJ Dope, Pug and others! A royal rip through 42 of the finest moments in Dope’s history featuring all the 'hits', some rarities, a few unexpected bonus bits and additional turntablisms from deck wizard DJ Hamma, all laced with plenty of that rare-breed K&S musical wit, rolled and re-hashed by Krushed & Sorted – for maximum pull and flava! More than just an album, The Greatest Hit also marks the end of a chapter in the history of African Dope; summing up what they’ve achieved over the past 6 years just so they can kick in the next phase - mutating into a digital lifestyle brand where their music is its driver, shifting focus to Krushed & Sorted and friends as opposed to just a stable of (hard to manage but ever so) talented artists. Compilations, digital singles, multi-format releases, themes and lots of interactivity are the new tools they will be using as a means to exposing fresh new talent, meaning also fewer artist albums, less regional focus, more global reach; creating a global community around the very unique African Dope sound and headspace. African Dope’s Greatest Hit is the label’s first truly multi-format, globally co-ordinated release. It is available on CD in stores, via digital download at hundreds of sites around the world, to purchase on USB flash drive or mobile phone memory card (with additional bonus material), or even as mobile content for cellphones: - ringtones, screensavers, pictures, music videos etc. The Greatest Hit also appears on myspace, Lastfm, Youtube, its own website and a host of global digital distributors all in the mix. Krushed & Sorted originally started the African Dope label with the sole intention of developing and/or releasing as much new and interesting local leftfield music as they could incorporate into their own DJ sets. Six years on: mission accomplished - here's the proof... Fans! Download the album for free! Coming soon: Die-hard Dope fans who just NEVER buy music (because they can get it for free), are invited to hunt down and download the entire album - for free, of course. Over January and February ‘07, African Dope in conjunction with selected digital media partners, will be releasing 7 chunks of the entire 72 minute mix...you'll be able to see where to get the chunks at www.africandope.co.za/greatest-hit, or sign up for e-mail reminders when new chunks go live. This mini-site will be live on 5 Jan 2007.
